WATANABE, a 24 year old Superior Private from Yamagata, was unconscious when he was captured by Australian troops. After the sinking of Oigawa Maru, he and three companions drifted on a raft for twelve days. He was the only survivor. During the interrogation, WATANABE provided some information on anti-aircraft guns and equipment and morale among the Japanese troops.
