| Content: | This item is a paybook issued to Superior Private FUJI Shôichi, recording salary payments made to him between January and September 1943. At the front of the paybook is a section for paybook number, issue date, name of unit, service number, rank and name, followed by a list of instructions for its care and use. However, except for FUJI's rank, name, and service number written in ink, the rest is left blank. The next page contains a list of ranks and special allowances calculating the rate of pay due to Private FUJI. The rest of the book consists of pages divided into columns for recording monthly payments, with spaces for the signature of the payee and paymaster. These sections have been filled in and stamped by paymaster Sergeant YOSHIDA. This item was captured at Sattelberg on 22 November 1943. |
