Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147677 of the 68th Field Anti-aircraft Battalion, who was captured near Hollandia on 6 May 1944. JA147677, a 24 year old Superior Private from Niigata Prefecture, was captured by natives after arriving in a village near Sentani to discover it had been occupied by Allied forces. During the interrogation, JA147677 provided information on air defences in Tokyo (organisation of the 4th Regiment Tokyo Air Defence Unit), air raid alarms in Tokyo, the location of Allied prisoners of war in Shibaura, shipping movements, details of the Type 88 7 cm Anti-aircraft gun, mobilisation of the Independent Anti-aircraft Unit and the results of an Allied air raid on 5 April 1944 at Hollandia. JA147677 also told of how he disliked his service experience, rationing in Japan, how he had become accustomed to being captured and that he would consider returning to Japan depending on the attitude of the Japanese government. The appendix includes organisational charts for the 68th Field Anti-aircraft Battalion and the 4th Regiment Tokyo Air Defence Unit.
