| Content: | This item is a dual-purpose propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office, which targets both the Japanese troops and Malay speaking natives in Dutch New Guinea. The message in Japanese informs the recipient of the defeat of the Japanese in the area and urges him to be escorted by the natives to an Allied camp. The English message at the bottom of the leaflet states that the holder has ceased resistance and should be treated in accordance with international law. The message in Malay warns that the Japanese will steal their food and epidemics may start if they are sheltered in their villages. The message in Malay encourages the natives to escort Japanese soldiers to an Allied camp for a reward. 500,000 of them were printed. All of these leaflets were dispatched to Nadzab between 26 June 1944 and 1 July 1944. |
