Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) research report issued on 16 March 1945 on Japanese armoured forces. The first section of the report consists of a Chinese Army General Staff document, dated 14 June 1944, on a Japanese armoured division, and covers organisation, distribution of personnel, vehicles and weapons. The bulk of the report contains data on the organisation, chronology and significant personalities in various Japanese armoured divisions, groups, brigades, regiments, units and companies. The report also contains details on the selection and training of personnel, data on armoured vehicles (tankettes, light tanks, medium tanks, heavy tanks, amphibious tanks and other vehicles), information on the production and design of armoured vehicles, and tank battle tactics. The appendix includes a break down of the Chinese General Army Staff study, an organisation table for the Tora Division, gun firing charts, charts on tank data and characteristics, and conventional signs and abbreviations for armoured cars and tanks.
