Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA148107 of the 4th Sea Transport Unit, who was captured on Jarsoen Island near Sarmi on 1 June 1944. JA148107, a 36 year old Sergeant-Major from Gunma Prefecture, fell off a raft while attempting to cross a river. He then swam to Jarsoen Island where he was captured by natives and turned over to US troops. During the interrogation, JA148107 provided information on the history, organisation and movement of the 4th Sea Transport Unit, specifications for various Japanese naval vessels and Allied prisoners of war in Manila between June and July 1943. The appendix contains organisational charts for the 4th Sea Transport Unit and the 4th Sea Transport Unit, 1st Company. |
