Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Mission Point on 18 September 1943 during the Japanese withdrawal from campaigns in the Owen Stanley Ranges. This item contains a collection of intelligence reports dated 26 February to 19 June 1943 by Go Group (8th Army) and Mo Group (18th Army) regarding operations throughout the South-West Pacific Area. It includes information on the following subjects: boat landing points, engagements in Wau and Salamaua, intercepted Allied radio reports, the destruction of the Lae convoy in March, interrogation of prisoners of war captured at Guadalcanal, coastal defences, ship movements, casualties and material losses, condition of airfields in New Guinea, observations on Allied tactics, estimations of Allied dispositions. This item also contains a variety of charts and maps of the South-West Pacific Area on Allied shipping, raids by Allied aircraft, the sighting of Allied naval vessels, and Allied dispositions in India and Burma.
