| Content: | This item is a paybook issued in August 1941 to a 1st Class Private IWAMOTO Chôgo from the 26th Field Artillery Regiment, and recording salary payments made to him between August 1941 and November 1943. At the front of the paybook is a list of instructions for its care and use, as well as a list of ranks and special allowances calculating the rate of pay due to Pte IWAMOTO. The rest of the book consists of pages divided into columns for recording monthly payments, with spaces for the signature of the payee and paymaster. These sections have been filled in and stamped by paymasters INOUE and TSUMOTO. This item was captured at Hansa Bay, probably in 1944. |
