| Content: | This item is a Japanese-language propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office during the Second World War. An English translation of the text is provided. The leaflet includes an drawing of Mt Fuji and a thank-you note supposedly sent from a Japanese prisoner of war to one of the Allied officers who looked after them in Finschhafen. The main text encourages Japanese soldiers to avoid useless deaths by surrendering now so that they can serve their country in the future. 200,000 of them were printed. 50,000 of these leaflets were dispatched to Hollandia on 20 November 1944, 48,000 to Lae on 30 November 1944, and 45,300 to Torokina on 17 December 1944. |
