Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for LAU Kai, who was captured in a palm plantation in the Buna area in January 1943. LAU, a 26 year old labourer from Canton in China, surrendered to the Australian troops unarmed. During the interrogation, he provided information about his movements from China to New Guinea. He had sought employment from the Japanese in Hong Kong. He was eventually transported to Giruwa in November 1942, where he worked transporting wounded soldiers, rice and timber. |
