Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147708 of the 68th Field Anti-aircraft Battalion, who was captured at Wari (Manokwari) on 3 May 1944. JA147708, a 24 year old Medical Probation Officer from Formosa, became separated from his unit during the retreat from Hollandia. Natives, who agreed to guide him and his group, instead handed them over to US troops. During the interrogation, JA147708 provided information on rationing in Japan and wool and iron shortages, clothing shortages, the organisation of the 68th Field Anti-aircraft Battalion, the location of the Sagamihara Military Hosptial near Tokyo and the presence of four English prisoners of war suffering from tuberculosis, his service experience and the harsh discipline meted out by superior officers, the use of electrically operated 105 mm anti-aircraft guns in Japan and the construction of an airfield near Airai in February 1944. The appendix includes an organisation chart for the 68th Field Anti-aircraft Battalion.
