| Content: | This item is a Japanese-language propaganda newspaper produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office during the Second World War. An English translation of the text is attached. This issue which is dated on 18 November 1943 covers major domestic events such as the death of General SHIOZAWA, the Greater East Asia Press Conference, the ceremony commemorating the centenary of HIRATA Atsutane's death and the dismissal of Major General YAHAGE as Chief of the Army Press Section. It also reports the deteriorating situation in Bougainville, the retreat of the Japanese from Finschhafen, the Allied bombing in Celebes and Java, the air raid on Darwin by the Japanese and the advance of the US forces to the Central Pacific. Activities of the US Forces in China and the safety of supply lines are also discussed. The paper also touches on the war situation in Europe and Russia. 200,000 of them were printed. |
