Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA148188 of the 90th Naval Guard Unit, who was captured at Demta (50 kms west of Hollandia) on 8 June 1944. JA148188, a 27 year old Leading Seaman (radar operator) from Kagawa Prefecture, was ill with malaria when he became separated from his unit during the retreat from Hollandia towards Sarmi. During the interrogation, JA148188 provided information on the organisation and strength of the 90th Naval Guard Unit, details of the Type 96 radar, radar training at Rabaul, method of operating Type 96 radar, his service experience, discipline, his attitude towards capture and extent of malaria infections. The appendix contains a sketch of a Type 96 radar with antenna.
