Content: This item is a statement of Sub-Lieutenant HAYASHI regarding an alleged execution of POWs in Laha. HAYASHI was on a supply ship and was in the Ambon area in February and March 1942. He states that he had heard a rumour about the execution of POWs by crew members of a mine sweeper, although he himself had never seen POWs while he was in Laha. He states that according to rumours POWs were executed at a jetty in Laha. Names or the number of suspects are not mentioned in the document. He insists that all he had heard was rumour and denies any involvement in matters related to the treatment of POWs.
