Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) research report on the destruction of Japanese aircraft, based on enemy sources. In January 1944 ATIS was requested to study captured documents and interrogation reports in order to ascertain to what extent Allied claims of the destruction of Japanese aircraft could be confirmed from enemy sources. From July 1944 records of aircraft damage and loss sustained by the Japanese in the South-West Pacific Area were issued in a monthly supplement to RR-59. This report is entitled "Japanese admission of airplane losses" and was issued on 29 July 1944 and contains information on Japanese aircraft losses resulting from Allied action, obtained from publications issued after 15 June 1944. It covers the period March 1943 to 3 June 1944. The table includes the date of loss, combat area, type of aircraft destroyed or damaged, number of aircraft destroyed or damaged in each action and source of the information. Total losses to 15 July 1944 are also included.

There are seven documents related to this research report (see RR-59 and supplements).
