Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Hollandia (Jayapura) on 25 April 1944 during the Allied attacks on Japanese positions in northern Dutch New Guinea, which were intended to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item contains extracts from three handwritten books entitled "Principles of intelligence" concerning Russian fortifications on the Manchurian border, intelligence gathering methods, and organisation of Russian tank battalions and sharpshooter division tank battalions. It also contains instructions on developing morale and psychological strengths necessary to prosecute the war.
