Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Superior Petty Officer JA145557 of the 702nd Air Corps 1st Unit 7th Group, who was captured in Buso on 12 July 1943. He was pilot of a Type 1 Betty. JA145557, a 23 year old Superior Petty Officer from Ishikawa, was captured by locals when he reached shore in a rubber boat after his plane crashlanded in the sea off Buna after drifting on a rubber boat. He had built a raft by himself and reached the mainland before his capture. During the interrogation, JA145557 provided information on his unit organisation, aircraft, air operations, communications, and air bases in the Pacific.
