Content: This item is a detailed tracing of a map of the western end of New Britain, the Dampier Strait and the Finschhafen area. The map has been torn into quarters, of which the south-west quarter (showing the Huon Peninsula and Finschhafen area) has been lost. Geographical details such as towns, mountains, rivers and reefs are clearly marked, with some locations marked in red ink, and distances are shown in nautical miles. The south-east quarter of the map is signed and dated by a GOTÔ Kazuo. It was probably captured at Madang in 1944.
