Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for 1st Class Private JA147491 of the 4th Air Intelligence Unit, who was captured near the Tami River (near Hollandia) on 26 April 1944. JA147491, a 24 year old 1st Class Private from Maizure, Kyoto Prefecture, was suffering from malaria and became separated from his Company during the retreat from Wewak to Hollandia in mid-February 1944 and was captured without resistance by US troops. During the interrogation, JA147491 provided information on Japanese positions at Wewak, the Otani airfield in Japan and air raids at Wewak in February 1944. |
