Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147484, an Ambonese government employee, who was captured at Ajapo on 25 April 1944. JA147484, a 34 year old clerk in the Wajaboela (Halmahera) district office, was in Ajapo when he saw US amphibious tanks crossing the Sentani Lake. He then understood that the Japanese had been driven away and he contacted US troops. During the interrogation, JA147484 provided information on the location of Japanese forces in the area, details on the supply and evacuation from Sentani, the availability and cost of rations in Hollandia in January 1944, the deployment of Japanese troops towards Nimborang, Lere, Geoari, and Sarmi three days after the landing of US troops, and two unidentified British priests from Vanimo who passed through Hollandia enroute to Manokwari in August 1943.
