Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Sansapor on 10 August 1944 during the Allied attacks on Japanese positions in northern Dutch New Guinea, which were intended to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item is a pamphlet entitled "Combat training material", issued by Engineering Officer MORISE of Sub-chaser Division No. 23, dated 15 May to 30 November 1942. It contains information on fuel expenditure of anti-submarine vessels; a chart of activities of Sub-chaser Divisions 22-24 between 15 May and 30 November 1942 in Rabaul, Shortlands and Truk; a chart of breakdowns and damage, maintenance and repair of engines; sanitation measures and opinions on the causes of mechanical failure, faulty parts and oil impurities.
