Content: | This item is a Japanese-language propaganda newspaper produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office during the Second World War. An English translation of the text is attached. Events covered by this issu, which is dated on 18 October 1943, includes the death of Court Lady Yanagiwara Nii no Tsubone, mother of Emperor Taishô, the submarine attack on Kongô Maru, the sentencing of both foreign and Japanese spies, outcomes of the domestic reinforcement policy, the massive Allied air raid on Rabaul on 12 October, the retreat of the Japanese forces from Vella Lavella and Kolombangara Islands and the advance of the Allied troops towards Madang. It also reports the declaration of war on Germany by Italy. 40,000 of them were printed. |
