Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147785, a civilian employee of 8th Naval Construction Unit, who was captured at Wari (Manokwari), near Hollandia, on 8 May 1944. JA147785 fell behind his unit during the retreat from Hollandia towards Manokwari and was asleep when captured by US troops. During the interrogation, JA147785 provided information on his service experience, rationing in Palau, the lack of mail service, his attitude towards capture and his fear that he would be summarily executed, Indian prisoners of war in Hollandia, Allied leaflet propaganda and various features of Palau Island (mines, populations, garrisoned forces, oil storage).
