Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Superior Private KITAMURA Yokichi of the 8th Shipping Engineer Regiment 3rd Company 1st Platoon 3rd Section, who was captured off Trobriand Islands on 8 March 1943. KITAMURA, a 37 year old Superior Private from Kyoto, was captured by a US Navy patrol vessel after Uranami, a transport boat he was aboard was sunk during the Allied attack in Dampier Strait. During the interrogation, KTAMURA provided information on unit movements, organisation, equipment, and morale in Japan. He was also sent to Guadalcanal in Feburary 1943 in order to evacuate the troops from the island.
