Content: This item is a Japanese-language propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office during the Second World War. An English translation of the text is attached. The leaflet mainly concerns the defeat of Germany and Italy in North Africa. A photograph of surrendered German troops escorted to the rear is included. The message reports the surrender of 150,000 German and 50,000 Italian solders and emphasises the superiority of the Allies in every respect of the campaign in Africa. The English translation notes that the purposes of the leaflet are: (a) indirect surrender appeal; (b) playing up Allied war successes; and (c) discrediting Axis partners. 52,500 of them were printed.
