Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147506 of the 7th Shipping Engineer Regiment, who was captured at Nightingale Bay (near Wewak) on 28 April 1944. JA147506, a 24 year old Superior Private from Kagoshima Prefecture, was captured at sea when the landing craft in which he was travelling to Hansa Bay was sunk by an Allied patrol boat. During the interrogation, JA147506 provided information on the strength and organisation of the 7th Engineer Regiment, recruitment and conscription, attitude towards Allied leaflet propaganda and threats of punishment if found by superiors to have read them, fortifications at Wewak, the location of Allied prisoners of war in Fukuoka, and shipping movements between 22 and 25 December 1943.
