Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Tanauan on 29 October 1944 during the US campaign to recapture the Philippines. This item is an intelligence report issued on 21 September 1944 by Nao (Sho) Group, 35th Army Headquarters, concerning the landings on the Palau Islands and Morotai, combat instructions concerning air raids on the Philippines and guerrilla activity. It also contains a sketch of the disposition of Allied naval forces in the South-West Pacific Area, a summary of Allied air raids on the Philippines, a chart showing losses sustained by Japanese forces and an estimation of damage inflicted on raiding forces. The reports also mention the sinking of Shinyo Maru and the loss of 750 American prisoners of war, and the interrogation of an Allied prisoner of war who bailed out near Davao.
