Content: This item is a copy of an announcement concerning the method of surrender, which was addressed to the commanders of the Japanese forces in the Balikpapan-Samarinda area. The message instructs that a party consisting of no more than three officers to be sent down, bearing a white flag and unarmed, to either the 19 kilo post on the Mentawir-Balikpapan road or by water to Tempadenong between 19 and 21 August 1945. Targets of the announcement included Japanese troops in Mentawir, Semoi, Sepkoe, Samarinda and Sanga Sanga.
