Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for rank SAWATARI Zengorô of the 18th Army Provisional Transport Unit, who was captured in Giruwa on 20 January 1943. SAWATARI, a 34 year old Medical 2nd Lieutenant from Tokushima, was captured by a US patrol when struggling through jungle towards the Kumusi River. During the interrogation, SAWATARI provided detailed information on medical services provided by the Army, including the method of cremating soldiers' remains.
