Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA 145648 of the 248th Air Regiment 3rd Squadron which was based in Wewak. He was captured near Lae on 12 November 1943. JA 145648, a 28 year old Sergeant Major from Kumamoto, was wounded in the air combat and parachuted down. He attempted to reach the New Guinea coast, but was captured by Australian troops. During the interrogation, JA 145648 provided detailed information on Japanese aircraft, equipment, and performance. Three diagrams of Japanese tactical formations are also included. |
