Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for rank SUZUKI Seime of the 51st Engineer Regiment 1st Company 1st Platoon, who was captured on Goodenough Island on 9 March 1943. SUZUKI, a 22 year old Probationary Officer from Tokyo, drifted at sea on a lifeboat after his ship, Shinai Maru, was sunk on 3 March 1943. He and his companions reached the island and were captured by Australian troops. During the interrogation, SUZUKI provided information on his unit's organisation, and training methods, and morale in Japan.
