| Content: | This item is an official diary for the month of July 1943, recording the activities of an unnamed unit (probably attached to the 222nd Infantry Regiment) while stationed at Qinxian in Shanxi, China. It contains daily reports and orders concerning unit activities and duties such as the transport of sick and injured soldiers, mending of uniforms, accounting and budgeting duties, riding and bayonet practice, marching drill and surveillance activities carried out by both mounted and vehicle patrol units. The diary also contains reports of enemy attacks in the region, and orders concerning troop placement and detachment. It was captured at Hansa Bay in July 1944, and may be related to other diaries mentioned in this sub-series, such as item 500016. |
