Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Sergeant SASAYAMA Jun of the 50th Independent Anti-Aircraft Battalion 3rd Company 1st Platoon 1st Section, who was captured near the Trobriand Islands on 23 March 1943. SASAYAMA, a 27 year old university graduate and sergeant from Fukushima, was captured by Australian troops at sea while he and his companions were heading to an island after the sinking of Oigawa Maru. During the interrogation, SASAYAMA provided information on the unit organisation, its strength, anti-aircraft ammunition, and Allied attacks. He also drew two sketch maps, of Rabaul and Lakunai airstrip.
