Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Nassau Bay on 31 July 1943 during the Japanese retreat from campaigns in the Owen Stanley Ranges. This item is a collection of intelligence reports of the Takamura Force 3rd Battalion 102nd Infantry Regiment 51st Division between 5 March and 28 June 1943 covering Japanese and Allied operations in the Lae-Salamaua area. The reports contain information about a range of activities, including inadequate food supplies, the use of natives for intelligence purposes, statement of Allied losses and captured material in the Mubo area between 24 April and 4 May 1943, the movement of troops in the Mubo area in May 1943, the evacuation of Buna, and air and naval operations in the Mubo area in May 1943. This item also contains sketch maps of activity in the Mubo-Buyawin River area and Tsushima Island.
