| Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Navy Air Petty Officer 2nd Clas YAMASAKI Kunio of the Navy Air Unit 934, who was captured on an island off Arnhem Land on 21 April 1943. YAMASAKI, a 22 year old Navy Air Petty Officer 2nd Class from Shizuoka, was too weak to resist capture after drifiting in a rubber dinghy for nine days. His aircraft was shot down during a reconnaissance flight from Dobo on the island of Aru. During the interrogation, YAMASAKI provided information on unit organisation, aircraft, ranks and their badges, and morale in Japan. |
