Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) research report issued on 27 June 1944 on economic conditions in Formosa. This report is based on the interrogation of six Formosan prisoners of war who were Army civilian employees. It includes information on mineral and metal mines, electro-chemical production, shipping, new docks, railway, the conversion of farms in Takao (Kao-hsiung) to rice and sugar cane production. The appendix includes a sketch map of a railways from Keelung (Chi-lung) to Suinanto and a sketch map of Keelung Harbour and Sharyo Island.
