Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Komiatum on 20 August 1943 during the Japanese retreat from campaigns in the Owen Stanley Ranges. This item is a booklet of lectures and instructions written by MOTO Group commanders dated 8 January and 17 August 1943 on morale and spiritual training. It contains instructions relating to the decline of morale and discipline of Japanese troops and the importance of regular morale boosting activity, adequate hygiene and rations. This item also contains battle instructions for Japanese forces fighting in the Salamaua, Mubo, Bobdubi and Komiatum areas, including orders for the retreat of garrisons stationed at Nassau and Wau.
