Content: This item is a collection of service records for about 50 members of the 39th Independent Motor Car Battalion 4th Company. Each file gives an account of the soldier's activities for the period between October 1941 and May 1943, beginning with their recruitment in October 1941. Notes on each record reveal that the 4th Company was assigned to the 52nd Division between October 1941 and March 1942, after which they were sent to the Subang-Jakarta region of Indonesia to perform guard and transport duties. They were subsequently transferred in February 1943 to take part in the Palao Campaign in , and finally in the 4th and 5th Hansa transport campaigns. As well as these details, each record also contains individual comments on the soldier's performance, and various grade marks are assigned for some campaign periods. This item was captured at Hansa Bay in July 1944.
