Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Superior Private JA147021 of the 33rd Independent Engineer Regiment 2nd Company 3rd Section, who was captured in Sel near Saidor on 30 January 1944. JA147021, a 26 year old Superior Private from Shizuoka, could not keep up with his unit during the retreat from Sio towards Madang due to an infected foot. He surrendered to US troops when he was fired upon. During the interrogation, JA147021 provided information on unit organisation, movement, economic and social conditions in Japan, and some information on Oki Electric Company and Showa Electric Wire and Cable Company where he used to work.
