Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Ensign OIKAWA Ko of Submarine I-1, who was captured in Guadalcanal on 13 January 1943. OIKAWA, a 21 year old Ensign from Morioka, was shot through the leg and knocked off the deck of the submarine. He was rescued by an Allied corvette. OIKAWA graduated from the Naval Academy in 1941 and became a submariner in May 1942. During the interrogation, OIKAWA was very security conscious, particularly on naval organisation and technical data. He provided some information on submarines and their equipment and naval boats.
