Content: This item is a Japanese-language propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office during the Second World War. An English translation of the text is attached. The message, which is supposedly written by a Japanese prisoner of war, emphasises the futility of war and criticises the current politcal system in Japan. The author tells his comrades that they have done more than enough and questions whether it is still unpardonable that they be saved by the Allied Forces from death. 100,000 of them were printed. 20,000 of these leaflets were dispatched to Morotai on 20 March 1945, 45,000 to Lae on 20 and 24 March 1945, 80,000 to Torokina on 20 and 22 March 1945. 60,000 of them were disptached to Lae on 22 March 1945.
