| Content: | This item is an official diary for the month of September 1943, recording the activities of the 222nd Infantry Regiment Infantry Gun Detachment while stationed at Qinxian in Shanxi, China. It contains various lists of unit officers and their assigned duties, as well as daily reports and orders concerning activities and duties such as artillery and surveillance training, riding lessons, maintenance and training of unit horses, medical examinations, and unit inspections. The diary also contains records of supplies, reports of medical/dental treatment received by unit members, and special orders for the dispatch of troops back to the Japanese mainland to return the remains of dead soldiers to their families. It was captured at Hansa Bay in July 1944. |
