Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) research report issued on 18 January 1947 on Japanese medical units. It contains information on malaria in the South-West Pacific Area, failure of Japanese to anticipate losses to malaria, preventative measures for plague and cholera, bacterial warfare, possible targets and methods of bacterial warfare, alleged Japanese experimentation with a "bacillus bomb", Japanese propaganda concerning bacterial warfare, the organisation and condition of field hospitals, medical supplies and equipment, dental units, atrocities committed by Japanese medical units, infringement of medical ethics and the violation of international agreements regarding marking and use of medical facilities. The appendix includes a diagram of the line of supply of medical stores.
