Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Blucher Point on 1 January 1944 during the Huon Peninsula campaigns and the Japanese retreat across the Finisterre Range. This item is a booklet entitled "Training notes for anti-submarine measures on transports" issued by the Shipping Control Department, dated November 1942. It describes the characteristics of various types of American submarines, instructions on anti-submarine observation, navigation and offensive tactics. This item also contains observations on US shipping production and Japanese morale. |
