| Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for 1st Class Seaman SAKAKI Minoru of the Kure 5th Special Naval Landing Party (Hayashi Unit) 2nd Company 3rd Platoon 2nd Section, who was captured in Milne Bay on 6 September 1942. SAKAKI was a 37 year old from Yamaguchi. The report combines information obtained at interrogation sessions and from his personal diary. The detailed information on movements of his unit from Japan to Milne Bay was listed, as well as an organisational chart of the Hayashi Unit. The report also provides information on the unit strength, names of officers of the unit, equipment, supplies and morale as well as SAKAKI's view on surrendering. |
