Content: This item is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured in the Giruwa area on 22 January 1943 during the Japanese withdrawal from campaigns in the Owen Stanley Ranges. The notebook contains organisational details of various Japanese Army units, including basic command structure, number and type of basic equipment carried, number of type of weapons carried, number of specialist personnel, and transportation requirements. This item also contains tables on the amount of ammunition carried by an infantry company machine-gun platoon, an infantry regiment, and the amount of road space required by various infantry units.
