内容の概要 | This item is a Japanese-language propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office. An English translation of the text is attached. The leaflet states that Germany decided to accept unconditional surrender with the view to reconstructing the nation and questions why the Japanese want to continue the useless fight. The message stresses that Japan started the Pacific War, unlike other wars such as the Sino-Japanese and the Russo-Japanese wars, and that the war will continue until Japan desires a cease fire. The leaflet includes two pictures depicting the city of Berlin destroyed by air bombing and one picture showing German POWs. 150,000 of them were printed. 20,000 of these leaflets were dispatched to Darwin on 11 July 1945, 52,800 to Morotai on 12 and 16 July 1945, 28,000 to Hollandia on 12 July, and 53,000 to Lae on 19 July 1945. |
