| 内容の概要 | This item is a diary written by HIGASHIYAMA Nobuhiko, who was a reserve serviceman belonging to the South Seas Force. The diary covers the period from 14 October to 21 November 1942 which corresponded to his departure on the transport ship "843 Maru" from Japan to his transportation on the destroyer "Fûun" from Rabaul to the Buna area. The diary describes HIGASHIYAMA's everyday life on and off the ships during his journey to Buna. It also records the convoy's frequent precautions against enemy submarines and his recollections of visiting a bar in Manila. The diary was found on the Buna battlefield. |
