| 内容の概要 | This item is SUGIURA Yoshio's seamans pocketbook issued on 13 September 1927, which includes his seaman's certificate and employment records covering the period from the date of issue to 25 January 1933. It also includes his vaccination records. SUGIURA (born 28 January 1903) worked as a apprentice cook on several merchant ships travelling to Europe, India, and Australia. The pocketbook accompanies a new year's greeting card from IWATA En in Miri, Borneo, to TERAMOTO Rei. On the inside of the back cover there is a signature which reads "VX133677 Pte Leeds W. 2/28 BN". The 2/28nd Battalion was engaged in the campaigns to recapture British Borneo in mid-1945. |
