| 内容の概要 | This item is a diary jointly written in a notebook by Mr ÔSAWA (born 22 September 1912) and Mrs Fujiko ÔSAWA (born 5 October 1921), who lived in Manila during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. The notebook was purchased on 7 July 1943 to commemorate their son Tsuneyasu's first birthday, and spans the period from that date to 31 July 1944. Mr ÔSAWA was temporarily working for the Japanese military government, but moved to a private company in August 1943. The diary describes civilian life in Manila, including such topics and news as inflation, Filipino independence under Japanese rule, the civilian war effort, the progress of the war, and the resignation of the TÔJÔ cabinet. |
